The town of Windham presented three area contractors with awards of appreciation as part of the International Building Safety Week. The awards were presented to contractors in three categories based on professionalism, amount of work done during the year, and expertise. The town building department chooses the winners.  "These are contractors that play by the rules," said Windham First selectman Mike Paulhus. "They always file for permits and everything is done to or exceeding building codes." Tom Crossen accepted on behalf of Crossen Builders, Inc. the Building Contractor of the year Award. In addition to the awards recipients, Mike Paulhus; Christopher Lux, state building inspector; and Donald W. Schultz, the Windham building official were present. ---The Chronicle-Chamber Update

Tom Crossen was an active member of The Home Builders Association of Hartford County, Inc. for over twenty five years.

Tom Crossen graduated from H.H. Ellis Technical School, Danielson, Ct. in 1970 after having completed his studies in the electrical field. He served both his electrical apprenticeship and acquired his journeymen's license through I.B.E.W. Local #35. He then went on to acquire his Master Electrician's license. During this time, he and his wife, Susan, purchased and remodeled houses as an additional source of income. In 1978, Tom started the residential construction company Crossen Builders, which was later incorporated in 1980.

The company went on to build over one thousand houses in the State of Conn. Commercial projects including, office parks, apartments, condominiums, and land development were added to the construction company's portfolio of accomplishments.
